feminism

Laura Mulvey- Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema 1975
Naomi Wolf- The Beauty Myth
Ann Oakley- Gender Socialisation

How might these theories apply to Jessica Rabbit?
Laura-  her theroy is that the camera is the audience and that the male audience wants to look at females in sexual ways. "The eye of the camera is like the eye of a male"

In Jessica Rabbit the camera focus on her legs and breast.

Naomi- says that "eating disorders rose exponentially and cosmetic surgery because the fastest-growing specialty" due to how woman are seem on TV and films.

If Jessica Rabbit was real she would be dead due to the fact that she is too skinny.

Interviews test shots

we feel this shot is artistic, although we do not think we could include this into the client video since it may not fit the brief.
If we are able to get two cameras, then this is the secondary shot angle we would use for the interviews.
When we include interviews to the corporate video, this is our first choice of interview shots, since it gives us the feel of the person talking to the viewer giving it a warmer feel.

Evaluation of motion graphics

2D Elements- X Y axis

3D Elements- X Y Z axis

Mattes- 2 images on top of each other

Alpha Channels- In computer graphics, alpha compositing is the process of combining an image with a
background to create the appearance of partial or full transparency

Keyframes- used to make images move

Layers- elements that make up a compositions

Composite modes-  An option in the Modify menu that offers many methods of combining two or more images.

John lewis christmas advert 2013 the bear and the hare.
2D- This advert is only 2D elements though out as it as the images show are only on the X and Y axis.
This is because the images are manly drawings however there are Real life items like the clock at 1.47. This would be a Matte painting and a layer as it is 2 images put on the same layer. Alpha channels  are used as well like in the fading out at 1.47 and key frames would also be used here to make the fading out work. To make key frame work you need 2 or key frames, the key frames are close together due to the fact that the transition is fast. The writing at the begining is a composite mode because 2 images are combining. Their are also layers in this as their is more than one image on top of the other at severally point in the advert.

Cadburys advert- I will boogie all night long

This advert is 3D due to it having an X Y and Z axis but its also has a 2D element to it at the end were you see the Cadburys Bar as the bar only has X and Y axis. The image is also a matte image as it is an image on top of another image ( the man dancing). The first time you see the bar it is an alpha channel because the image is coloured digitally which make it eye catchy. The advert also uses key frames but only at the end as the bar quickly fades into screen and text appears these fade in quickly by the key frames being very close together. As it fades in this is a composite mode.

This advert as both 3D and 2D elements as the start of the ride is 3d and later the ride is 2D.  Their are matte images in this when the coster sees a pillar with screens on it showing images. The alpha channel used in this was for the scene were you see the cart on  and the tracks are edited in to the ride. Their was layers and key frames used though out this advert.

Guillermo del toro

Distinct visual style, technique and recurring themes
His movies are surreal with fantasy/fairy tales or horror in modern or near modern day times. E.g Pan's labyrinth is a fantasy set in 1944. His movies are also very dark and though might end with the hero winning at the end of the film they don't win with out a lost. E.g Cronos the hero becomes a vampire.
The main characters are also isolated for the rest of the work. E.g Hellboy want to be know but the world.

Guillermo uses two main colours Blue and Red and his posters help show this. His Period movies are all set in spain or Mexico. He also uses at the idea of bugs or bug like creatures a lot E.g. Mimic is about cockroaches. As well bugs he also uses teeth a lot e.g. vampires.

summary of stig ident project

The original Stig came into college and gave the class a task, the task was to make an ident for him. The winner will have their ident added to his website. It was the beginning of the year when I got this project, so I don't know how to use adobe after effect well, so I have worked with a friend for this project. The idea for the ident being, that the Stig stands still and 'some say…' Would come on screen and the last thing will be, 'but all we know is that he's called...' and the name of the client will follow it.

However due to software issues, every time we tried to save or render this ident it froze and deleted all the work done. So sadly we could not finish the project on time and missed the deadline.

college brief

My task is for me to go out in to the world and find a client who wants a corporate promo video and make this video for them. This being an advert or a training day video for its employees. The task has been broken down into for different point each with a different deadline.

Intended techniques for sound

We intend Shernot Holmes to have diegetic which is sound the characters in the film can hear, like the characters talking the characters and the audience and non-diegetic is sound that only the audience can hear like horror music to make suspense to help put fear to the audience. There will be music in the film that will be non-diegetic sound so it will give off atmosphere to the audience the music will manly be in the murder scene. However we will also use music as diegetic sound for the scene where Watson meets Sherlock as Sherlock is dance and if Watson can her the music it will ruin the atmosphere as if we wanted to add sound after Watson might talk to smoothly and might not be heard in the scene.

As Shernot Holmes is a comedy of Sherlock Holmes we decided to use crime drama sound as it will fit the Sherlock theme. With this he hope to make the comedy a black comedy in which the music will make it serious and makes the jokes funnier.
